CRIMINAL JUSTICE AWARENESS

Afruika Bantu Saturday School Talk July 2023 – Crime Prevention

EXCELLENCE. PROGRESSION. DISCIPLINE. RESPECT. KNOWLEDGE OF SELF

These are the pillars of the school which has been running for 26 years in South London, currently based in Tulse Hill. The school instill these characteristics in the children to become upstanding and outstanding.

I attended Afruika Bantu Saturday School to talk to our future, the children ranging from 5 years old to 16, about the Criminal Justice System. To prepare them for the traps and the awareness of how its branches can assist them or remove their liberty. The children were engaging, weary and eager to learn. Their energy and spirit was captivating.

I have made it my mission to use the knowledge and experience that I have gained to inspire and to help prevent our children being victims of the Criminal Justice System. Whether this is being a victim of over zealous Police officers, or over zealous criminal oriented peers.

I want them to thrive and be happy and most of all to be Excellent, Progress with Discipline, Respect and have Knowledge of themselves. So that they cannot be denied their capabilities. So that their power can be felt for themselves, to provide the future that is possible.

OUR CHILDREN ARE OBSERVANT

They see the Police stop and search our young boys and men, and make decisions based on these incidents. Many of them have normalised these moments, and some, especially the under 10 year olds fear them. We discussed this issue fully, alongside particular crimes and behaviours that affect us the most.

MY VISION WITH RAESOLUTIONS.CO.UK

We have to be the Gilead Balm for our communities especially for the young and the overlooked. The mainstream schools are not willing to do it, which I can say from their lack of response, when I have contacted them. The largest community centre in Croydon, is unwilling to do it, again from my own requests to assist them and their lack of response.

However, as long as Saturday schools such as Afruika Bantu school and others continue this work and we all unite together to do our part, we will be ALRIGHT!
